Q: How many years have you been coming out to Rampage? How many on a COMMENCAL?

A: This will be my fourth year at Rampage and all four of them have been on a COMMENCAL.

Q: Do you make any changes to your bike for Rampage?

A: I don’t really make any changes. I have a bike I use when I want to go ride downhill, and I have a bike set up for park. I’ll add some air to my fork and my rear shock. The dirt is so good out here you only really need your suspension when you’re dropping something so I run it really stiff.

Q: What kinds of things do you do in preparation for Rampage?

A: I like to mix it up for sure. I’ll go to the dirt jumps to practice some tricks, I’ll head to the Alpes to do some DH, there’s some really steep stuff to ride there so I think it helps. I’m also getting a little older, I’m 34 and I need to be able to keep up with the young guys so I recently got a fitness trainer.

Q: Who’s on your dig crew? How do you decide who to bring?

A: It can be hard, I really don’t have a budget to get every one out here so I teamed up with Tommy G. He has a really good group of guys and we all work well together.

Q: How do you feel about the wooden features opposed to the dirt? Do you like one more then the other?

A: I like the dirt for sure, I’m using one of the wood features at the bottom of my run but that’s because the end of my line from last year was a bit weak.

Q: Are there any features that scare you?

A: No not really, I get scared that I’ll lose focus. You have to be so consistent and so precise, you have to stay focused.

Q: Any podium predictions?

A: AAAAAAAA… I think Semenuk is F@@king going for it this year, he’s tricking everything. He’s one of my favorite riders, super stylish, super flowy, and super original.
